Palesa Binonica Mabilo who hails from Tikwana; a township in Hoopstad, is the first born of Diagomang Elizabeth Rapulana and Thabo Jacob Poeng. She says where she comes from talent is not recognized but she is driven by passion. Coming from a dusty township did not deter Palesa from dreaming of a brighter future. She was taught to always put God first in everything that she does and that has enabled her to make the best out of the small opportunities that came her way.

She studied National Certificate (Vocational) in Office Administration from Level 2 (2015) to Level 4 (2017) at Goldfields TVET College, and She graduated on the 19th of September 2018. She further at the same college in 2018, to study Management Assistant N4 – N6 which she completed in June 2019. After her completion she submitted her CV at the campus placement office. She did not just end there but she made it her mission to visit the placement office regularly in search of any available vacancies. The ever-willing placement officer at Welkom Campus; Mr Magwa, was instrumental in assisting her and other students with information which they could use.

On the 12th of August 2019 she received a call from a company called O’Nam C Holdings informing her that she had been shortlisted for an interview on the 14th of August for an Office Administrator position. Just two days after the interview, she received a lifechanging call from the company informing her that she had been appointed as an Office Administrator and should report for duty on 19th of August at 08:00 am.

She would like to extend her appreciation to the teachers who taught her from primary and high schools as she cannot quote all of them. She further wishes to thank the remarkable staff of Goldfields TVET college for the role that they played in making her journey to be endurable.  She is even more grateful to the lecturers who not only planted a seed but assisted in nurturing her to flourish from when she started her NCV level 2 until she exited the institution with her N6 certificate. Most of all she would like to thank her mom Diagomang Elizabeth for being patient while grooming her to be the woman she is today.

In an interview with us Me Mano Chiroodza who is Palesa’s employer at O”Nam C holdings says her appointment as the face of the company has made their jobs effortless.  She has received nothing but compliments from clients regarding Palesa’s conduct and service.  O’Nam C holding is a company dealing with accounting and logistics and they are based in the Welkom CBD.  Me Chiroodza is passionate about training people without experience because they are innovative and have lots of ideas to see the company thrive.  This company has previously opened doors to the Goldfields TVET students who were completing their internships.  With an MOU between these two institutions in place, Me Chiroodza is confident that this arrangement will bring prosperity to both institutions.   We wish Me Mabilo along with O’Nam C holdings the best of luck in their future.

Goldfields TVET college prides itself with producing graduates that are ready for the job market, not only with their qualifications but equally with their skills. With the feedback from the industry partners such as O’Nam Holdings, the college is motivated to continue to be the beacon of hope in the community.
