Finance Department at Goldfields TVET College
The Finance Department Ā plays a critical role in ensuring the institutionās financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and effective management of public funds. The department is led by Mr. Njabulo Mchunu, who serves as the Deputy Principal: Finance, also referred to as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Mchunu is responsible for the overall financial governance of the College and provides strategic leadership to ensure sound financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury regulations, and applicable higher education financial policies.
The Finance Department is tasked with several key responsibilities that include but are not limited to: budget formulation and control, revenue management, expenditure tracking, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance monitoring. The unit ensures that all income received, whether from government grants, tuition fees, or other sources, is accurately recorded, safeguarded, and used in a manner that supports the Collegeās strategic objectives. Monthly and annual financial reporting is produced in line with legislative requirements to maintain transparency and accountability.
In addition to traditional financial functions, It also oversees the Supply Chain Management (SCM) division, which reports directly to CFO. This ensures alignment between procurement planning and financial management, enhancing operational efficiency and compliance.

By integrating finance and supply chain functions under a single leadership, the College is better positioned to manage costs, streamline processes, and ensure that goods and services are acquired in a fiscally responsible manner.
Finance Department plays an integral role in the Collegeās growth and operational excellence. His focus on strategic financial planning, risk management, and internal control systems has helped strengthen the institutionās financial health. The Finance Department also supports other units of the College by providing guidance on budget utilisation, compliance with donor or project-specific funding requirements, and financial data for informed decision-making. Through this department, the College continues to uphold its commitment to financial integrity, accountability, and service delivery.
