Supporting Student Success at Goldfields TVET College
The Office of the Registrar at the College is a central hub for student administration and support, led by the Deputy Principal: Registrar, Mrs. Phunyezwa Vutuza. The unit plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all student-related processes and support services are aligned with the Collegeās mission of academic excellence, student wellbeing, and institutional efficiency. The Registrarās Office is responsible for overseeing the entire student life cycleāfrom registration, orientation, and induction, through to health matter, ensuring students receive the guidance and support they need to succeed both academically and personally.
At the heart of the Registrarās Office is the Student Support Services (SSS) Department, which reports directly to Mrs. Vutuza. The Assistant Director: Student Support Services manages the day-to-day functions of this department, including bursary administration, student liaison, counselling, and social support. All bursary officers, Student Liaison Officers (SLOs), Sports and culture officers and registered counsellors are part of this unit. This team organises and delivers a wide range of programmes designed to promote student welfareāranging from academic support, health and wellness, and career guidance to life skills training and awareness campaigns addressing Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), mental health, and substance abuse.

Among its many services, the SSS unit offers personal counselling, therapy, career development, academic peer tutoring, and support for students with disabilities. It manages NSFAS applications and external bursary opportunities, coordinates student leadership through the Student Representative Council (SRC), and fosters a vibrant student life through sport, arts, and cultural activities. The office also conducts home visits to address absenteeism and engages students through ongoing awareness events and health activations in collaboration with Higher Health. Notably, there are eight health focus areas, including HIV/TB/STIs, mental health, reproductive health, disability inclusion, GBV, LGBTQI support, and substance abuse prevention.
Through its dedicated team and expansive programming, the Registrarās Office remains committed to ensuring every student at Goldfields TVET College has the support, knowledge, and resources they need to complete their studies successfully. By creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning, and by actively engaging parents, staff, students, and external stakeholders, Mrs. Vutuzaās office continues to champion student success, social responsibility, and holistic development across all campuses.
Additionally, the TVETMIS (Technical and Vocational Education and Training Management Information System)Ā function also reports to the Registrarās Office. This critical function ensures accurate and timely reporting of student data to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). It supports data integrity, compliance, and informed decision-making across the College. Through its dedicated team and expansive programming, the Registrarās Office remains committed to ensuring every student at Goldfields TVET College has the support, knowledge, and resources they need to complete their studies successfully.
